Sports Massage Therapy (SMT) is a type of massage – bodywork designed for highly active people who engage in sports or some form of exercise. Exercising is harsh on the body mentally, physically and emotionally. Exercising can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term that hinder the performance and recovery from sports related activities. SMT enhances performance and prolongs your ability to exercise by helping to prevent injury, temporary swelling, pain in the body and many other significant issues. It also helps to relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. SMT is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and, in turn, promoting the body’s natural immune function. Many clients over the last 10 years have said that SMT has helped to improve their range of motions at a joint, their muscles flexibility and their bodies mobility.
This massage-bodywork session includes a combination of various deep tissue, Neuromuscular, Myofascial Release and stretching modalities. All sessions are customized to each client per their symptoms and their ability to receive.
There is not a lot of scientific studies out there on SMT but here are a few.

NeuroKinetic Therapy may be used during this session to test for facilitation or inhibition of the root cause hindering your sports ability. Here are a few reasons we integrate NKT with SMT. If you are complaining of low back pain and we test and find your glutes are inhibited and not firing proficiently, the last place we want to stretch or release would be your glutes. If we did massage them the result would cause the glutes neurologically to become more inhibited. Using NKT with a Sports Massage
